Trailer Modifications
Another is the rear gate for the trailer. It used to be a long ramp. It proved to be heavy and a lot of drag on the highway. I cut it down to the height of the sides and welded a rail on top:
One project is shown in the above photo. The wire mesh seen on the sides used to be the floor for the trailer. I upgraded the floor to wood and welded the mesh to the sides. There was also a steel support added to the floor.
Also, got fed up breaking the cheap lights, so found some recessed ones on Ebay and wrapped them in a steel frame:
Sold the 5x10 trailer, just too big for my driveway. Picked up a small 4x8 boat trailer:
Had those magnetic towing lights that just kept falling off. So, I picked up some recessed LED lights
First step was making some C channel out of angle iron:
TIG welded them together. Then cut an oval hole for the Lamps:
Then welded the frames on:
The D-ring was welded on also. Both done using stick welding. Here's a completed tail light:
A bit of paint, bigger fenders welded on (also upgraded to 12" wheels.) Reflector brackets welded on. Tongue was shortened about 3 feet.
